Opening Day Update

It's that time of year again-family gatherings, holiday parties, feasts, presents and quality time on the slopes!  I haven't been this excited for the start of the season in a long time! Our snowmaking upgrades are proving to be very efficient and effective, and the snow that we have been able to put on the hill has far exceeded our expectations.  There is significant coverage on the upper mountain-but unfortunately, these gorgeous sunshiny days have not let us continue our 'round the clock plan for snowmaking like we had hoped.

So, unfortunately, we have decided to postpone opening weekend until December 1, 2012.   On the bright side, with a few more good nights and days of cold temperatures, we will have more terrain to offer on opening day and we're confident that we can deliver a quality snow product by waiting another week to open.  This also gives you more time to get up to the mountain and get your season pass before opening day. The Guest Relations Office is now issuing season passes and will be open 7 days a week (EXCEPT Thanksgiving Day) from 8:30am-4:30pm.  Come and get yours so you won't be waiting in line on opening day.

And just in case you haven't heard, our partners to the north are open, so if  your still looking for a place to take a few turns, head to Jay Peak. Don't forget that if you purchased your Judge Pass (Burke+Jay) from Burke Mountain you must pick it up at Burke Mountain before you go to Jay Peak.

We've also been working hard on our events schedule for this winter and are pretty psyched to bring you the True North Music Series.  If it's the weekend, there's music at the mountain.  We're bringing some of our old faves back and some fresh new acts. Check out the line-up so far and keep checking back for additions.   Hint:  if you didn't get a chance to see Waylon Speed this summer, they're back again on December 8.  These guys rock.

A few other events to add to the calendar:

December 8-9: East Coast Snocross Event (and opening of Sherburne Base Lodge Area for skiing and riding) Ski, ride and watch action packed amateur and pro snowmobile racing all in the same day!

Burke Comedy Club-First class comedians from the Boston area get silly at the Sherburne Base Lodge-January 5, February 2 & March 9.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and do your best snow dances-you'll need to work off some Turkey Day calories anyways.

See Ya Soon!
