It’s been a very exciting couple of months here at Burke! As the new ownership group settles in, the Burke Bike Park is open and off to a great start, and we held arguably one of the best mountain bike festivals in New England! All the while, there are a number of projects in the works that will bring some great improvements to the 2012.13 winter season. The change in ownership at Burke has gone extremely smooth and we are all very excited with what our future holds. Our new partners at Jay Peak have been great to work with and all of our customers will benefit from this new synergy.

The Burke Bike Park is also getting a few improvements this summer. Trail builder Knight Ide is busy working his magic to enhance the Lodge Trail and we also expect to build a connector trail to the Lower J Bar Trail, which will provide more variety on the downhill network.

Remember, the Bike Park will be open on Friday afternoons in July and August from 3-7pm in addition to the regular Saturday and Sunday hours! If you have not tried downhill mountain biking yet, take a lesson with the Kingdom Trails Gravity School anytime the park is open.

The NEMBA festival held June 22-24 was so successful and well received that we have already scheduled next year’s event for June 21-23, 2013. We cannot thank Kingdom Trails or the New England Mountain Bike Association enough for their partnership with this event; please take a moment to visit their websites and facebook pages (in addition to our own) for participant testimonials and photos of the event.

Make sure to mark your calendars for next Friday, July 6th and come celebrate Independence Day with us. We’ll be having our Annual Fireworks Display & Vermont Fourth Celebration. Then, on August 4th, join us for our Annual Bike’n Brew, which is surely going to be bigger and better this year.

We will also be announcing a number of winter improvements over the next several months so even though the winter is typically not your first thought during this time of year, make sure to check Burke’s website for updates. Enjoy your summer and we hope to see you at Burke soon.
