BlogFEATURE march

As we head into the tail end of the winter, it should be no secret that we are enjoying the best conditions of the season right now. It is hard to believe that most of the winter is already behind us, which is even more reason to make a trip to Burke this month and enjoy the great snow conditions and weather. It has been a very busy season so far with a lot of ups and downs, coupled with news and excitement about the future of Burke Mountain. I will save my year in review post until after we close in mid April, but would like to take the opportunity now to introduce two new faces you have probably read about in local press and Burke media, seen around the mountain, and hopefully have had a chance to meet.

The first is Alexandra MacClean.  Alex is a lifelong Northeast Kingdom resident, lifelong fan and skier at Burke Mountain with an extremely impressive career. For the last two years, she has been Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin’s Deputy Chief of Staff and Secretary of Civil and Military Affairs. She also ran his election campaigns for Governor-the first one in 2010, and again in 2012. Alex will lead the investor relations effort for Burke and several other projects planned in The Kingdom by the Q Burke Mountain Resort ownership group. Alex will also help with community relations and has already started organizing an envisioning session in Burke to help shape the future of the resort. Although we would like to have everyone participate in this process, to be productive we will need to limit the number of attendees.  The envisioning session will take place Friday, April 5 from 5-7:30pm at the Mid Burke Lodge, so if you're interested in participating please reach out to Alex at amaclean@jaypeakresort.com, introduce yourself and tell her why you would be a good representative of the Burke community.

The second new face to Burke Mountain should need no introduction if you are a frequent visitor to this site.  I am very pleased to be able to work with Mr. Ary Quiros as the resort gets set to evolve to the destination that we all know it can be.  On behalf of all Burke staff, we are all glad to welcome Ary to Burke Mountain. His decision to join the Burke team shows the Quiros family's commitment to Burke and the surrounding Northeast Kingdom.  Ary brings a wealth of experience from both his hotel and hospitality background and his military service to our country and all of the staff are looking forward to working with him.  Although Ary has only been at Burke a short time, he has shown an attention to detail and desire to improve the guest experience that we have not had the ability or resources to focus on as much as we would have liked  to over the last several years.  Ary has already started working on a number of plans and initiatives to improve the Burke experience.  If you get a chance, please say hello to both Alex and Ary.

There are some great events this month and many great deals on lift tickets and 2013/14 season passes.  Our season pass prices are a great deal for returning buyers and an even better deal for new pass holders to Burke because the rest of this season is included and if you buy the combo pass – you get to ski even longer into the spring at Jay Peak.  So bring a friend and share the Burke experience with them during what should be a great month this March.

We hope to see you real soon!
