Today's Mountain Report

Updated Fri Feb 24th 7:30

If you've been keeping a close eye on the weather you've probably already changed your plans for the weekend but not so fast. The forecast has changed yet again and as this front rolls through tonight through Sunday there is a chance of snow accumulation on the tail end which would freshen surfaces right up. Good, great, or awesome news? The good news is we have another spring-day of skiing to enjoy and word has it the groomers are soft and fun as temps haven't been below freezing and won't be until Saturday evening. Great news? The wet weather forecasted to arrive doesn't appear to be affecting daytime fun; the majority of the translucent snow moves in Saturday evening and moves out with a dusting Sunday morning. Awesome? We have the best if not the most awesomist (yes we'll claim it) grooming team in the Northeast and they are ready for whatever comes our way to ensure you have the best surfaces to shred this weekend. On top of that we have solid snowmaking coverage which will hold up until the next big storm rolls in (extended forecast is suggesting around March 6-8 is our next 6+ inch storm). So enough about the weekend what does today look like? Well, it won't be as warm as yesterday but still in the upper 40s with temps again staying above the freezing mark (which is good). Burke remains 100% open with 36 trails, 14 glades, and 3 terrain parks serviced by two high-speed quads the Sherburne and Mid Burke Express which spin daily from 9am-4pm. NOTE: We have an early lift load this Sunday, 2/26 of 8:30am to support the race on Warren's Way. 18 of those trails are groomed including the Deer Run, Carriage Road, Upper/Big/Little Dipper, Open Slope, Upper/Lower Warren's, Upper/Lower Foxes, Upper/Lower Willoughby, Lower Bear Den, High Meadows Pass, Binney Lane, Bunker Hill, Carter Country, and Dashney Mile. Live music begins tonight in the View Pub from 6-9pm featuring local singer/songwriter Derek Campbell and then down in the Tamarack (located in the base lodge) from 8-11pm featuring The Aerolites. This weekend we have TONS to keep you busy including more live music in the Bear Den, a gala to Celebrate Burke with special guest speaker Tiger Shaw, President and CEO of the US Ski Team and 2x Olympian and the infamous Wicked Smart Horn Band. Sunday we kick off Vermont Cider Week from 12noon-4pm in the Hotel Day Lodge. Visit skiburke.com/events for all the details.
