Freeski Development Team

Ages 9-13

Back for the 2026/2027 season, this team is designed for children ages 9-16 who are looking to improve their all-mountain skiing and take their skills to the next level. Children in this program must be at least 9 years old by January 1, 2027.

This program is for skiers who are comfortable on Black Diamond terrain, have high endurance, and like to ski in all conditions and terrain. Participants must be proficient in skiing with a dynamic parallel technique, and should also be able to ride all ski lifts without any adult assistance. Acceptance to the Freeski Development Team requires prior approval by the Snowsports Manager.

Athletes on the Burke Freeski Development Team will work on a variety of skills, including but not limited to; navigating bumps, jumps, high-pitch slopes, woods skiing, and variable snow conditions. Additionally, this program emphasizes the development of mental skills required to excel in the sport such as concentration, critical thinking, goal setting, perseverance, sportsmanship, and teamwork. 

Children in this program are expected to be self-sufficient, responsible, and mature.

o Skill evaluation required for new participants
o NOT Included in the program fee: IFSA membership (required for competition), competition fees, lift tickets, lodging, and transportation cost related to competitions.
