BURKE MOUNTAIN DIVSISON JR PROGRAM

Nearly a decade of building confident, skilled riders on one of the best mountain bike networks in the country.

WHAT MTN DIVISION IS ALL ABOUT

This is not an introduction to mountain biking. Riders should be comfortable on the terrain park and chairlift, and able to pedal 350-400 vertical feet one to three times per ride. If your rider can handle the top of Stormin' Norman, they're ready. The program is designed for ages 13-17, though we've made exceptions for strong younger riders—in those cases, we ask that a parent be present for the first few sessions

IS THIS THE RIGHT FIT?

Founded by Knight Ide and coached by our summer Ops manager Alex McAndrew since day one. Mtn Division is Burke's summer coaching program for advanced youth riders. The focus is descending skills: line choice, race prep, race strategy, and fitness, but racing is never required. What makes the team work is the culture. We have one cardinal rule: no cutting or demeaning comments. That's it. Break it and you go home. Everything else follows from there. Riders who aren't afraid to try and fail, who leave a feature for another day without shame, and who lift each other up when things get hard. Every rider on this team is here by choice, and that makes all the difference.

Not Sure Yet - We offer a full refund if the first practice doesn't feel right. Show up, ride with us, and see how it feels

Where We Ride

Most practices are based out of Burke Mountain, but we mix it up throughout the season.

Sherburne Base Area, Burke Mountain

Home base for most practices — chairlift access, gravity trails, 2,100 feet of vertical.

Wildflower Lot, Darling Hill

Kingdom Trails singletrack — cross-country riding and endurance work.

East Haven Parking Lot

Access to the East Haven trail network for variety and new terrain.

What to Bring

This is gravity-focused riding, so the gear list reflects that. Come prepared and we'll handle the rest.

Required Full-suspension mountain bike with disc brakes
Required Full-face helmet
Required Knee pads
Recommended Chest and back protection — strongly encouraged for all riders

Staying in the Loop

We use the free app TeamReach to communicate throughout the season. Practice updates, schedule changes, and meet-up details all go through there.

Download TeamReach ↗ from the App Store or Google Play. We'll add you to the team channel once you're registered.
