Since the first ski trails were cut back in 1953, Burke has been a ski town. Busy in winter. Sleepy in summer. Then the first bike trails went in. Summers got less and less sleepy. The ski town embraced its bike side. And by embrace, we mean a full-on bear hug that makes it hard to breathe. Today, Burke is a world-class mountain biking destination. Riders from around the globe roll through our woods and pastures or rip down our lift-assisted bike park from spring thaw ‘til the leaves fall. Thankfully, we’ve had 60-plus years of practice welcoming people to our little town and are ready with a warm hello, a cold Vermont brew and whatever else folks need to get back outside doing what they love to do.
